Healthcare, Economy, and Covid-19

Introduction

Covid-19 emerged in Wuhan on December 15. China’s government announced the disease and locked down Wuhan. Moreover, other countries thought that the virus would not spread into their countries. However, some countries did not see the dangers of COVID-19, and at the beginning of the virus, some countries like Italy did not stop the flights to Wuhan. Therefore, COVID-19 started to spread into European countries. However, Wuhan citizens kept traveling at the beginning of the virus, and soon after, Australia announced the COVID-19 cases in their country. Also, a lot of countries did not take the necessary precautions to stop COVID-19’s spread area.

Body Paragraphs

Therefore, at the beginning of May, almost 210 countries got the disease. In addition, COVID-19 turn into the pandemic disease. Italy is one of these countries that did not take the necessary precautions. However, the first case appeared in France in the European continent. COVID-19 appeared in the United States on October 21, and nine days later, other European countries announced that the first COVID-19 cases appeared in their countries. Subsequently, President Donald Trump announced that they stopped the flights between China and the United States in the October 30, merely one month later that China announced the outbreak in their country. They should have stopped the flights the day China announced the outbreak. Every country made a mistake about not stopping the flights to China. Especially, most of the countries failed to fight with COVID-19. This pandemic process has shown that the health care system is not good enough to fight with COVID-19. Therefore, almost every country had to go into quarantine. Pre COVID-19 precautions did not take the right path; countries risked the COVID-19 outbreak, and ever since, individuals are facing the impacts of COVID-19.

The quarantine system shot down all the businesses, schools, and public areas. Therefore, individuals stayed at home. However, at the beginning of the quarantine, the health system started to collapse because there was not a vaccine for COVID-19, and the number of people infected raised every day was high. Right after, first concerns about the pandemic focused on the health care system. In the United States, people who did not have insurance did not get the COVID-19 tests to see if they infected. COVID-19 spread faster in the United States. In addition, some people did not get treatment because they did not have insurance. However, among the people who had treatment, death numbers started to rise rapidly. In other words, the death numbers climbed up to 70.000 until May. Moreover, the health care system seems to be inadequate to fight with COVID-19.

On the other hand, there has been some process in Europe. The European countries are easing the restrictions of quarantine. The businesses are reopening in European countries, but everyone needs to wear a mask when they go out. In this sense, one can infer that European countries made a process with the COVID-19 outbreak. However, in the United States, this progress is moving more slowly than in European countries. Therefore, other concerns in the United States raised rapidly.

The United States is facing higher numbers of unemployment since the great depression. The United States economy is going bad due to quarantine. The citizens of the United States lost their income during the quarantine. According to the ongoing Marketplace-Edison Research poll survey, the results have shown that more than 32% of households say that they have lost income since the pandemic began. About 26% of Americans who are currently working say that they have experienced a pay cut, while 36% are working fewer hours. For those who are able to work from home, there are disparities depending on the level of education they have attained. About 71% of workers with a bachelor’s degree or higher are now working from home compared to 32% of those without a bachelor’s degree. About 26% of those with a high school education or less say they can work from home, compared to almost 80% of those with postgraduate degrees.

About 69% of the American workforce is either unemployed or fears to lose their jobs in the next 12 months, a massive shift from just a few months ago (“How Covid-19” para. 4). The numbers clearly show that people who have higher education are luckier than the others because they have the opportunity to work from home, and they still can pay their rents and bills. However, there are a lot of people who have lost their income, and they are facing even more bad times during the quarantine. 2020 is a year that everyone is choosing to stay alive but losing their income. The limitations of quarantine are affecting an individual’s psychology badly enough. However, people who have lost their income are facing more stress than the rest of the population.

Another striking fact about the research is that 41% of Americans say they could not pay an unexpected $250 expense, while 59% could not pay an unexpected $1,000 expense (“How Covid-19” para. 6). The impacts of economic crises can be clearly seen in the results. Therefore, individuals are restricting their lifestyles due to their lack of financial income. Moreover, the latest concern in the quarantine is that reopening the economy. States in America are discussing whether to reopen the economy or not. However, the decision might raise the case numbers and the death rolls, and a second more drastic wave is possible. Therefore, keeping the businesses still closed is seen as the right choice at the moment. Arguably, reopening the businesses might cause human circulation on the streets, which can easily cause the spreading of COVID-19. After all, there is a long way to find a cure for COVID-19. Therefore, society should find a way to relax because there will not be uplifts in their income any time soon. Eventually, COVID-19 damaged almost everything that humankind built, such as health care systems, economic systems, and lifestyles.

Conclusion

To sum up, the world caught COVID-19 without any preparations. The first four months of the COVID-19 outbreak has been challenging for all of the countries that announced COVID-19 cases. China’s citizens acted irresponsibly by traveling around the world for vacation, while they were experiencing an outbreak in their country. However, other countries did not take serious precautions to prevent the spreading areas of coronavirus. Eventually, coronavirus spread all around the world and affected an individual’s life. Therefore, the impacts of coronavirus demolished the trust between citizens and governmental systems such as the health care system and the economic system. 2020 is becoming the year that everyone stays home to survive, and also everyone is criticizing the core values of life of society and lifestyles. After all, there is an uncertainty with the vaccine for coronavirus; until there is a cure for coronavirus, individuals need the patience to get through the hard times. Eventually, society will adapt to the new normal to continue their lives.
