Trouble in Mind Summary and Analysis
Trouble in Mind Summary: Introduction
Within the last century, the number of book publications, along with blogs, short stories, and online multimedia assets, have skyrocketed. People now tend to express their thoughts and feelings more than ever. In this assignment, Trouble in Mind (2014) by Jeffery Deaver has been analyzed and reviewed in terms of the intention, messages, theme, strategies, and reaction. Accordingly, one can claim that the book and the author can be considered profound examples of collection, short stories, and plot twists in today’s literature world.
Body Paragraphs
Trouble in Mind (2014) is a collected series that consists of twelve short stories. The author, Jeffery Deaver, is known as the "grandmaster of the plot twist" (“Trouble in Mind,” 2015, para. 3). In this sense, one may readily claim that the writer likes to surprise the reader as the content of the collection mostly includes short stories with surprising endings. The stories involve conspiracy, tension, and a cunning approach so as to create a sense of misdirection among the readers. Accordingly, "the book talks about the fact that the writer can waive his unusual preference for 'closure' when writing short stories" (Deaver, 2014). Eventually, it is not wrong to say that the author mixes his preferences and sincerity with surprising, misdirecting, and tension-wise storylines.
As the book has many stories with various storylines and characters, one may find it hard to summarize the whole collection. However, a series of events result in Kathyrn Dance and her colleagues to prevent a possible terrorist attack. Lincoln Rhyme, in another series, starring as the leading figure of "The Obit" and "A Textbook Case." Another collection, "Game," concentrates on the murder of a New York socialite, which is highly inspired by a real case. In "Paradice," a break failure, unfortunately, leads the main character in a town situated in the Colorado mountains, and John Pellam was instantly accused of murder.
The collection, in general, is fun to read and does not require a lot of attention. As it consists of twelve short stories, one may find it fun and smooth compared to other conspiracy and plot twists series. Although some of the stories can be already found on the internet, e-pub assets, the ending of many other stories are intriguing, curious, and surprising, which makes the reader enjoy the reading. However, the style of the author is highly misdirecting and plot twist-wise. Accordingly, after the first stories, the reader can already expect that something surprising is going to happen in the ending. Arguably, the book becomes a little bit boring after a few stories at the beginning of the collection.
Trouble in Mind Summary: Conclusion
After all, this assignment presents insights and reviews into Trouble in Mind (2014) by Jeffery Deaver, who is considered as the grandmaster of the plot twist. The book is a collected series and consists of twelve short stories; unfortunately, almost half of them had already been published on the internet somehow. However, the style of the author, along with conspiracy, misdirection (some), and a surprising set of events, create a sense of attention and joy when reading. Especially, John Pellam's incident can set a good example for unexpected events in life that mostly shape one's fate in a negative way that one can relate. After all, the book and the author can be considered profound examples of collection, short stories, and plot twists in today’s literature world.
