Impact of Covid on Education: Introduction
The coronavirus (COVID-19) was first seen in China and became a pandemic all around the world. It has been a significant danger as much as the previous virus pandemics. The stock market values are decreasing, the countries are financially strained, thousands of people have been influenced by the virus, and a section of them died. The governments all around the world make provisions to restrain the effects of the virus over the people. The closure of the schools and universities temporarily is one of these precautions to prevent the spread of the virus over the children and the youth. It is planned to avoid diffusing.
Body Paragraphs
The effects of coronavirus were seen in Europe after about one month from it born in China. Its spread in Europe increased when it is compared to China. All the governments in Europe prefer staying at home during the outbreak instead of proceeding daily life. The cessation of education for a while became a current issue to protect the young population. The outbreak has disrupted the education of at least millions of students (McCarthy,2020, para 5). It seems like a mid-term break that's period is not known. The closure of the schools changed the education system from face-to-face teaching to distance learning. In this way, the educations will continue without a long-term break. Thus, there will not be a disruption in the academic schedule. Distance education has already been used in some universities. Hence, there will not be an adaptation problem for this system for college students. However, for the younger student in high schools and primary schools, there may be some difficulties. During this period, the families and especially primary school students can be well informed by the senior officials, educators, and teachers in order not to deal with the problems.
Face-to-face education and distance education differ from each other in terms of the opportunities they offer to the students. The main difference may be related to communication. The students have a limited chance to be in touch with the teachers and the classmates in distance education. This may cause some conversation problems and some psychological consequences. Face-to-face learning encourages the students for more participation so that the students' level of understanding the lessons increase. The distance education pulls off the children from their classmates and the teacher. The distance learners are seen as more isolated and observed a lower level of self-confidence (Kahl & Cropley, 2006). Face-to-face education is available for all classes of society. The families who do not have enough possibilities of sending their children to colleges or private schools and offering online training may send them to public schools. The face-to-face learners are more likely to be better in one-to-one relations compared to the distance learners. It is seen that face-to-face education provides a more productive education system for students.
Another way of discussing the differences between distance education and face-to-face education is by looking at the different departments in the university. There is no problem with many of the departments like law, teachers' college, history because they do not need many materials for the lessons. However, some departments, such as engineering and architecture, need rulers, scissors, materials for practices in their experiences. The students in some of the departments should be in touch with educators during learning. This may be a disadvantage of distance education.
The spread of the virus is pretty rapid. It causes mostly older people; however, this does not mean that it will not affect the young generation. Thus, distance education is a correct way of protecting them from the overbreak. It can be easily said that health is an essential aspect to be successful. Distance education was a need firstly to secure the students' health, and Thee outbreak is infected easily by people to people. If one of the children's coronavirus test's consequence is positive, that means many of the other children is the potential to be influenced. That would have awful results for the young generation. Besides the protection, distance education offers some favorable stuff to the students. The primary benefits of distance education are money and time savings. By distance education, the students will not waste their time on buses or trains and will not be in interaction with other people. Since the virus is infected by touching each other or some surface, the students will not be influenced by the outbreak. Because in the distance education program, the classroom is the students' rooms.
The period of distance education may be short, and this can help to give the lessons to keep the students in touch with their teachers. Individual learning may be excellent, or the parents' teaching can be tolerable. However, the teachers' effect on the students more beneficial in their learning process. The individual learning of the children may be interrupted so much. They can prefer doing another thing rather than studying. However, studying with the teacher keeps their motivation high. The children's interaction is limited with their parents, which means that distance education prevents the children from being influenced by the COVID-19 positive cases. These may be seen as an excellent precaution for the health of the students.
Conclusion
After all, social Security service has more advantages than its disadvantages. It allows for a higher employment rate and higher welfare in the community. Its disadvantages were highly questioned only in the Great Recession in 2008. From its foundation, millions of people in the United States have benefited from the service until now. It contributes to the economy of both the country and the community.
