Although social media has improved our communication in our environment, there are many negative psychological impacts of social media such as anxiety, depression, and psychosomatic issues in extreme cases.
In this direction, this assignment presents insights into the adverse and positive impacts of social media, along with the developmental domains, by highlighting their significance. Accordingly, although social media is considered useful for such domains as marketing, business and improving the sense of belonging for some individuals, social media platforms can lead to physical, emotional, and cognitive effects for adolescents, along with some positive effects as the increased feeling of belonging to society.
In this assignment, two public and one individual social media posts with smartphones and their psychological effect are examined. Although smartphones and social media create new ways of communicating options, one may claim that these two have significant negative sociological and psychological impacts on individuals across the world.
Therefore, smartphones promote loneliness because they shorten the time-wasting in real life, break off the family relations and detract from the social experience and friends even though some people believe in the idea that the smartphones help to find friends via social media.
More and more people, especially teenagers, suffer from anxiety every day. It is a severe mental health problem, and the sheer scale of anxiety in today’s youth is horrifying. Before taking any action, governments and health institutes should detect its causes and impacts on teenagers. In order to understand the situation better, this paper identifies the causes of teenager anxiety and describes its effects on their lives.
